In a meeting with Ubisoft investors Yves Guillemot, answered a related question with the Steam Deck. The CEO of the French developer said that they are aware of the new hardware that Valve will launch on the market and are happy with the novelty.

In addition, they confirmed that they will be attentive to the performance of the console and that they will launch games on it if it is successful. Valve announced that the Steam Deck will have access to the Steam catalog, but also to other stores, so Ubisoft may not have fully understood how the device works.

Attentive to Valve

Ubisoft already has dozens of titles on Steam and, in addition, Valve confirmed that the Steam Deck comes equipped with Steam OS, based on Linux, but that it can be erased and installed Windows 10. If a user decides to do this, then they could install the Epic Games Store or Uplay and play the entire Ubisoft catalog.

So right now the console would not need direct support from the developer. That said, Ubi could work on optimizing them so that these run better in case the console has problems with the more powerful ones.

Guillemot’s statements also make it clear that they are attentive to industry movements, as they should be. Also, the relationship with Valve is not bad despite not releasing some of their games on Steam, as they are willing to support the console in some way.

The Steam Deck will launch in December of this year, pre-orders opened last Friday and quickly sold out. Some users even pointed out that the email they received promises them a Steam Deck by mid-2022, so it seems that it is being a success.
