Almost from the start of its debut, the worlds of film and video games were twinned. Many video games remembered from the early 1980s were film adaptations, such as the AND from Atari or the first video games of Star wars. It was only in the 90s that the reverse path was traced, and it was done the first film about a video game world, Super Mario Brothers. Unfortunately, it is difficult to decide which of these early examples of the crossing of the two worlds had an inferior quality. Even so, the relationship has not been broken and today we can say that there are a good handful of movies based on our favorite video games. Today we are going to comment on 4 that you should definitely see
Mortal combat
We start with the most recent movie on the list. We were all scared in our bodies when a new movie from Mortal combat after the disaster of 1997. However, for those of you who are still hesitant, come see it. You won’t find the new Oscar winner for Best Picture here, but if a solid and entertaining action product, in which theblood will splash on us during its almost 2 hours of duration. A pleasure, this time yes, to see Sub zero Yes Kung Lao and company on the big screen, although unfortunately we cannot say the same for the protagonist, Cole young, which is possibly the worst thing about the movie.
Prince of Persia – The Sands of Time
The once main saga of Ubisoft In the age of 128 bits, today this is just a reminder of how great it was, even if they tried unsuccessfully to get it back. In 2010, the film adaptation of the game sub-saga Sands of Time was released.. The adaptation perfectly captured the action, history, and powers of the console deliveries. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re definitely missing out on a great action movie. Special attention to casting, with some more than acceptable Ben Kingsley, in the role of the villain, and Jake gyllenhaal like the prince.
silent Hill
Konami’s once-major horror saga, and now famous for rumors, had in 2006 what could be the best film based on a video game. Amid the franchise boom, a free adaptation of the first video game was made and garnered praise from fans for its exceptional setting. The film was so influential that later episodes of the saga incorporated various elements of it. Ash, the symbol of worship, the church with barbed wire or the design of various creatures were included in the 2008 video game Silent Hill: Homecoming. Finally, comment that in 2010 it had a sequel, Silent Hill: Apocalypse 3D, although this is less successful.
Max Payne
And I want to end this list with a very personal selection. I know that it is not the favorite of the majority, and that even Remedy He also has quite a few detractors, but I will always continue to defend him. I still remember when I saw her in the movies, and everything seemed so well suited to me. Moreover, I recommend the Director’s Cut version (I end with a new rabid) which will complete the story with nearly an hour of footage on the set and a graphic novel.
Hope you liked this little selection, far more personal than what we usually write, so we know you might miss / spare a title. We therefore invite you to maintain the debate, in an educational way, in the comments and our social networks, on your favorite films based on video games. And if what you want is to empty the worst, we invite you to wait a few weeks, with the second part of this summer special.
