The rumors have been confirmed: A remake of Dead Space was announced at today’s EA Play. There was already a first teaser on display.
Right at the end of EA Play there was the big hit: Dead Space returns! Behind the official announcement there is no fourth part, but a remake of the original from 2008. But that should be something, as it is a completely new development with improvements to story, characters and gameplay. The rumors about another Dead Space game have thus come true.
Based on the Frostbite engine, developer EA Motive (including Star Wars: Squadrons) creates the gripping sci-fi survival horror from scratch. The title should also use the technical possibilities of the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S consoles, including the fast SSD hard drives and the 3D audio function.
If you don’t know Dead Space, here is a brief outline: Engineer Isaac Clarke is supposed to carry out standard repairs on the huge spaceship USG Ishimura. There, however, he comes up against a murderous alien race, the Necromorphs. However, only his tools and technical skills are available to him. An extremely creepy and playfully demanding struggle for survival begins, in which the skillful dismantling of the monsters plays a central role.
A release date for the Dead Space Remake on PS5, Xbox Series X | S and PC has not yet been announced. However, EA showed a first short teaser:
