We get a fairly prominent rumor related to Nintendo 3DS y Wii U. Apparently, the consoles could stop receiving games in less than a year.
The information comes from Impact Game Station, who states that, in an email received, they have learned that Nintendo plans to end the acceptance of submissions of new games for the eShops of these two consoles. As of April 1, 2022, it will no longer be possible to send any more applications.
In fact, the alleged email encourages interested developers to rush to submit their games before then. This is the information shared in the mail:
We hereby wish to inform you that it has been decided to suspend the acceptance of submissions of new Nintendo 3DS / Wii U titles for launch in the eShop before the end of the current fiscal year (effective April 1, 2022). These new titles must be approved no later than 3 months after the submission deadline.
- Nintendo 3DS / Wii U eShops will remain active and patch submissions will continue to be processed until further notice.
- Keep these deadlines in mind when planning for upcoming Nintendo 3DS and Wii U digital releases.
Thank you very much for your understanding and continued support of the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U systems over the past few years.
Kind regards,
Nintendo of Europe
So far in 2021, Nintendo 3DS has only received 7 games, while Wii U has only received one. For this reason, it is not surprising that the information was correct. However, we will be on the lookout for Nintendo’s official decision on this after the publication of this report.
