Kate Herron, who was in charge of the direction of ‘Loki’, offers her explanation to the mysterious end of ‘Avengers: Endgame’, when Steve Rogers left to return the Infinity Stones, but was lost “in time” to live his life together with Peggy Carter, and then returned to the present to give his shield to Sam Wilson.
According to the director behind the Sacred Timeline series, ever since she saw the torch drop between Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson in the Infinity Saga, she has not been able to stop thinking about the mysterious ending and the endless chronological doubts that that provoked.
Optimistic or pessimistic theory?
In his recent conversation with The Direct, Herron admitted that, since ‘Loki’ remembered the conversation already laid on the table of the timeline branch, which The Ancient One mentioned in ‘Endgame’, now more than ever it is possible to give an answer to aging. by Steve Rogers.
According to Herron, Steve and Peggy did not stray far from their “destiny” on the Sacred Timeline, which allowed them to exist and meet again. However, he also offers a theory in which he claims that both were “eliminated” by the TVA.
“Then! I’ve been thinking about this (laughs). I am like [tan emocionado]… People are going to be upset because it is not a definitive answer, but I can also only really answer as a fan. My theory is this: it all comes down to whether you are optimistic or pessimistic. If you are optimistic, maybe it was okay [para] that they lived that way, and the branch wasn’t so severe that they didn’t need to be pruned, and that meant they could stay together. Perhaps romantics can somehow say that it managed to exist. And then the pessimists [piensan], ‘They were probably pruned (laughs).’
As stated by the director of ‘Loki’, it all depends on which side you want to see it. We are the optimists, who believe that Steve and Peggy deserved their “happy ending,” and there are the pessimists who might think of a more tragic ending.
“It depends on how people fall on that side of things, because in my head I guess… usually the branches have to be pruned and then maintained, right? But it depends. As an alternative, it would imply that it is running alongside our main timeline, so yeah. I don’t want to say definitely that they were eliminated, but by our logic at TVA, probably. But maybe where there is a will, there is a way, and they weren’t too disruptive, and they managed to live happily ever after ”.
The truth is that, just like Herron, the theories or hypotheses only come from a fan’s perspective, since Marvel Studios has not announced any definitive answer on the matter. Assuming that the meeting between Steve and Peggy did not deviate from the Sacred Timeline raises the possibility that the events we already saw in the MCU remain “relatively the same” and no one was eliminated by TVA.
