During the early hours of today Fortnite was updated with patch 17.21, the game received a new weapon, general fixes and, most importantly, a countdown. This can be seen on the map and in the same main menu when you see your character.
Right now the countdown shows 10 days of waiting and a few hours, so there is more than a week to discover what Epic has prepared. It will be quite an event according to the leaks of the dataminers, and it will be connected to the mothership that we could see in the trailer of the season with Rick and Superman.
Changes to the map
Some dataminers even mention that some places on the map will change a lot with the event, there is talk of alien invasions and entire places “kidnapped” by the invaders. The truth is that the theories are quite crazy, but Fortnite has not had few crazy ideas so nothing is ruled out.
Apparently, the event will not be as big as the one of the hole that the whole world of the game swallowed to launch Fortnite: Chapter 2 a few days later, but it would be close to that. In any case, new skins, challenges and the usual cosmetic elements of the game are expected.
The countdown will end on August 6 at the end of the afternoon in Latin America. Below you can see the new weapon in the game, the plasma cannon. This fires a large ball of energy that destroys stone buildings in its path, so it is quite powerful.
