Through these tests, Sony will evaluate different types of M.2 SSDs to determine what might be the best options for consumers. In other words, there is currently no list of supported SSDs. However, Sony has established specifications.
What specs should the M.2 SSD have?
The M.2 SSD must have a capacity between 250GB and 4TB. Read speed must be at least 5,500mb per second. It can be one of the following lengths: 30mm, 42mm, 60mm, 80mm and 110mm. It should be 22mm wide. The storage drive must be “PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD”. If it doesn’t come with a heatsink, those interested will need to purchase one.
