Apex Legends Bans 2,000+ Players for Cheating Ahead of Season 10 Launch

Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment has announced that today more than 2,086 players were banned for abusing two different cheats in the game. The first of these is “a PR loss forgiveness exploit,” also known as a dash. The board occurs when the player closes the game when he loses to avoid a loss of RP. The second is an exploit that apparently allowed high-ranking players to enter Bronze matches “to farm.” The bans were announced on Twitter by Respawn’s Conor Ford, who also provided a breakdown of how many players were banned on each platform; surprisingly, a vast majority were on PS4!

Ford’s Tweets announcing the bans can be found below:

As Ford points out, the duration of the bans will differ based on how much the player abused these cheating methods. Of course, the timing of the bans is likely to be daunting. Apex Legends season 10, Emergence, is scheduled to arrive on August 3, and these players will now miss the start. While Ford noted that “it sucks to miss a new season opener,” he was also clear that these players must learn to follow the rules. Fans who play the game legitimately will likely be happy to hear that Respawn is taking cheating seriously.

Players who have legitimately enjoyed Apex Legends will be able to see everything the new season has to offer. Emergence will feature a new Seer Legend, the Rampage LMG weapon, and some changes to the World’s Edge map. Apex Legends is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PC and Nintendo Switch.
