The Embracer Group, the parent company of THQ Nordic, Koch Media and many other publishers and developers, today announced the acquisition of eight mature studios. These teams will be part of Embracer’s various departments, bringing the total size of the group to more than 8,000 employees.

The land cost 2.1 billion Swedish kronor (about 250 million US dollars) in cash and 600 million US dollars in Embracer B shares. As part of the transaction, Embracer will also pay 2 billion Swedish kronor (approximately US$232 million) in bonuses to these teams, depending on achieving certain milestones over an eight-year period. Half of it will be paid in cash and the other half will be paid in Embracer B shares.
Embracer said in a press release that the acquisition will strengthen its position in the development of independent games and mobile games. The group adopts a strategy of non-interference and decentralized management.
