Big, bigger, American Truck Simulator. Since the release in February 2016, the simulation has received numerous updates and DLCs. With Texas and Wyoming, two map expansions are currently under development and the developers are always providing insights into the upcoming content.
The $ 16 million rest area
The proportions of the map in ATS are not true to scale, but the developers of SCS Software keep adding highlights and sights in some places. In one of the upcoming DLCs, the map will be expanded to include the US state of Wyoming in the western United States.
In addition to wide plains, the Rocky Mountains and part of the famous Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming has a special attraction for truckers: a $ 16 million rest area.
The rest area shows visitors the best that Wyoming has to offer: The rest area is special: the on-site Southeast Wyoming Welcome Center was created to “show visitors the best that Wyoming has to offer.” The rest stop is located on Interstate 25 between Denver and the capital, Cheyenne.
The construction completed in 2012 is according to official information at the time the largest public investment in tourism infrastructure in decades.
Now that an Idaho landmark has found its way into the game with the giga potato, it is no surprise that Wyoming’s most famous rest area is now following suit. In the official blog post, the developers of SCS Software also provide an answer as to why the rest area will be a highlight of the new DLC:
“We know that rest periods are just as important to a trucker’s story as driving on the road itself, so hopefully these areas will provide the comfort necessary to continue the journey that you will experience to the full in the upcoming Wyoming DLC. “
When will the Wyoming DLC be released?
So far there is no release date for the new DLC. However, the Wyoming and Texas DLC has been in development for some time and is “overdue”. Overdue because the developers have so far released new map expansions for the American Truck Simulator every six months.
What else to expect in the DLC: As already mentioned, Wyoming is not only known for its expensive rest area. Historic weighing stations also make truckers’ hearts beat faster. During the trip, however, you will also visit other attractions in the state such as the Rocky Mountains or parts of Yellowstone National Park.
You can get a first impression of the new DLC in the developers’ gameplay video:
