The iPhone 13 is about to launch and we already know a lot about it. Its manufacture is already underway. And it looks like the large number of devices Apple requested has caused manufacturing partners in China to run out of supplies and need hire more staff.
To get more workers, Foxconn and Pegatron are already offering bonuses worth more than one month’s salary so that more staff join the factories where the new iPhone models are assembled.
Because the production periods of the iPhone are seasonal, Apple needs several million iPhones manufactured by the last months of the year, it is usual that at this time Foxconn, Pegatron, and other Apple vendors recruit large numbers of workers on a temporary basis. They usually use farm laborers who can earn enough in just 6 months to support their families year round.
“Apple suppliers in China, including the world’s largest iPhone factory, are increasing their start-up bonuses amid fierce competition for a pool of young people willing to take on manufacturing jobs, as production grows with the new models which are expected to launch in September.
Additional payments may go up to 10,200 yuan, $ 1,578, if the worker adheres for at least 90 days. A significant sum given that the average monthly earnings are in the range of $ 772 to $ 926.
Factories don’t have it easy because of increasing living standards in rural areas. It is increasingly difficult to find staff willing to enter factories temporarily, and that is why they want to encourage hiring with these bonuses.
