Nintendo’s known for having a family-friendly image, but over the years it has played host to a number of titles featuring adult-only themes.

One that we’re often reminded of is Rare’s N64 title Conker’s Bad Fur Day, but the South Park cartoon series also has quite an extensive history with Nintendo platforms. The original South Park game, which was a first-person shooter, made its debut on the Nintendo 64 in 1998/99.

Since then, there’s been a handful of other games released – some of which are even available on the Switch. Now, in an update, a Bloomberg report has mentioned how the show’s creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are working on a brand new “3D” entry.

Jason Schreier’s colleague has been informed it’ll be developed by South Park’s own internal studio, but Ubisoft may not necessarily be involved.

“The game is under development by an in-house studio, Stone told Bloomberg’s Lucas Shaw in an email.”

Bloomberg also reached out to Ubisoft Entertainment SA – who published the recent RPG entries – and did not get a response back.

Given the history Nintendo systems have with games based on this animated television series, there’s seemingly a good chance a future announcement will include a Nintendo platform – provided it’s not another mobile-only game.
