Windjammers 2 has been in development for a while, it was announced in 2018 but DotEmu has more than 6 years working on this franchise that belongs to Paon DP. First they released a port with online functions of Windjammers, a 1994 Neo Geo title, and now they will release this sequel that has everything to succeed.
The open beta will begin tomorrow on Sony consoles and on PC through Steam, in this we will be able to play as Steve Miller, Biaggi, Sophie de Lys and Gary Scott, characters that come from the first installment. Unfortunately there will be no cross-play in the beta, although this does not rule out that there will be in its final release.
Summer sport
Windjammers 2 is a game that mixes frisbee toss, volleyball, hockey and even fighting game mechanics. Two athletes face off on a field with goals where the goal is to score points by scoring in the opponent’s goal. On the other hand, we can also score points by making the puck or frisbee bounce twice on the ground on the opponent’s side of the court.
Obviously it is not that simple, each character has their abilities, superpowers and special launches that give more spectacularity to the entire fictional sport. In the video that announces the beta they have also explained how to play and the truth is that it seems that it will have a more or less pronounced difficulty curve.
Yet it ranks as one of the funniest titles in a long time. The graphics are like the ones DotEmu has been designing for years, that is, with characters and settings designed by hand and digitized later.

Windjammers 2 will be released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, PC, and Stadia. The open beta will run from August 11 to August 22
