The post-apocalyptic frost punk was so popular that the makers decided to announce a successor.
In a press release, 11 bit studios confirmed the sequel Frostpunk 2. The post-apocalyptic predecessor was nominated for the prestigious BAFTA Awards, among other things, and cast a spell over numerous gamers with its mix of survival world, structural elements and social simulation.
Frostpunk 2 follows on from this point and will be the first of three in-house projects that the Warsaw-based studio is currently working on. To get in the mood for the successor, you can try your hand at Frostpunk for free on Steam this weekend.
What is planned for the successor? You slip back into the role of the leader of a metropolis suffering from resource scarcity, for which expansion and the search for new energy sources is inevitable. However, the apocalyptic world has moved on. After the end of the coal age, conquering Frostland for oil production is now seen as saving the last survivors of mankind. But change is never easy, and not every member of this complex new society is open to the new direction.
Jakub Stokalski, the co-director of the sequel, also gave some more information about the title in a statement: “Players can prepare for a lot of far-reaching decisions and the freedom to influence the city and its society according to their ideas – but they can also have to live with the consequences. Frostpunk 2 builds on the conflicts from the predecessor: weighing up the survival of humanity and human values as well as the struggle for survival against the arctic cold. But, what is even more important, Frostpunk 2 adds a new one Add a level that will be present in many aspects of the game, be it political, social or technological progress – and this level concerns the conflict between people and their own nature. “
Frostpunk 2 will be released for PC via GOG.com, Steam and the Epic Games Store. The first part was released on the PC in 2018 and quickly became a hit; therefore, a console version followed in 2019.
