In a turn of events that perhaps some already expected Blue Box Game Studios has announced the delay of Abandoned. The history of the development of the title already exceeds incredible limits and could already be described as ridiculous after so many promises and theories.
The title was announced more than a year ago and since then teasers, playable demos and other material that has never arrived have been promised. In addition, the title has always been linked to Silent Hill, Hideo Kojima, and even Metal Gear, theories that the studio refutes with their hands and affirms with their feet.
Abandoned until 2022
Now we find out thanks to a FAQ published on its website that the game is delayed until 2022, that they will release a prologue “very soon” and that the title is not really called “Abandoned” but is a “codename”. At this point it is not possible to choose a worse theory than the previous one since, although Kojima is really behind this, it seems that everything has been a disaster.
Abandoned has had fake (or not) YouTube channels, references to Silent Hills PT, and few references to real humans working on the game. We have only seen Hasan Kahraman, supposed director of the title, giving explanations and the community managed to discover that Hasan is “Hideo” in Turkish.
So there is nothing fairly normal in this “game”. Their teaser turned out to be a 30-second flop, a video that shows absolutely nothing and will now be a “prologue coming soon.” According to the study, this teaser was not shown properly due to technical problems, so even in this they have not done well.
We leave the worst for last, the community has discovered that this study has announced more than six titles in the last six years and has only published one, The Haunting: Blood Water Curse en Steam. So it has a terrible record of cancel after cancel and even the few who played The Haunting claim that it is not even complete.
Given all this context, only time will tell what will happen to Abandoned in 2022, they have certainly drawn attention. But it seems that this is mostly negative and that now everyone looks at Blue Box Studios with critical eyes and not with illusion. The last bullet of the study is that the game is really good but, given its history, do you see them capable of launching Abandoned in a timely manner?
