First introduced in March, Undercovers’ new line of Evangelion-inspired outfits are for sale now. Or should I say became for sale until they sell out almost immediately, so we either have to pay apocalyptic resale prices or, more sensibly, just look at pictures of them on the internet.
The range includes a ton of different items, from pullovers to hoodies to shirts, some of which are modeled on them Evangelion Characters, others shine with Evangelion Illustrations and logos.
Some of the simpler parts, like the shirts (above which I really like), went for around $ 200 before they sold outwhich, considering we’re talking about high-end streetwear in 2021, isn’t even Bad. But I’m not here to talk about it Evangelion Shirts.
I’m here to talk about the heart of the collection, a selection of outerwear that goes beyond “inspired by Evangelion” to “Evangelion Cosplay”. Like these $ 5600 puffer jackets:
G / O Media can receive a commission
Or these $ 1200 turtlenecks modeled after children’s plugsuits:
The real star were these jackets, which look like normal, perhaps somewhat technical trench coats with the hood down, with taped seams and practical zippers. With the hoods up, however, they are Eva tributes that not only model their head designs but even have remote controls that you can use control the LED eyes.
Here is an example:
See? Without a hood, it’s a normal jacket. Zipper on the hood At, but and:
Dim the light, pull out the branded remote control supplied and suddenly:
Incredible. There are two more available, each doing the same thing with the fancy hoods and glowing eyes.
These last two were the most expensive pieces in the collection, costing 816,750 yen each, which is about $ 7200. Which is absurd, I know, but keep in mind that this is not an assortment meant to be sold in GameStop. It made its catwalk debut during Tokyo Fashion Week, so adjust your expectations accordingly!
