I’m not sure what kind of person the Guardians of the Galaxy wants to be.
On the one hand, this is a very convenient adventure, wrapped in a family-friendly package, the action-packed storyline will take you on a pleasant voyage in the most colorful regions of the galaxy. On the other hand, it has a very complex combat system that requires a high degree of digital dexterity and rarely forgives your mistakes.
On the other hand (well, we are really in another world here, so indulge me), the game often puts together fierce action sequences and monotonous walking down this corridor scenes, endless exhibitions and a lot of boring riders. “Just kidding” together. It can lead to a very unbalanced experience, which means you usually only do one of two things in Guardians of the Galaxy: getting your butt kicked by a jelly block; or getting your butt somewhere Was kicked and listened to other guardians arguing.
However, this is not to say that I don’t like the time spent with the Guardians of the Galaxy. It is true that in the previous chapters, I actively had no fun. Although I like to learn about the cast (I came as a MCU rookie- pant! -Never watched a movie), I feel like the game is doing everything it can to prevent me from being immersed in its world construction.
By the way, this is a story worth listening to. Although the mandatory jokes and arguments you have to get involved can sometimes feel a bit indecent, the story of Star Lord Peter Quill and the other guardians-Drax, Kamora, Groot, and Rocket-came to save the galaxy. This time is a foreseeable, if weirdly sad, love and loss story…although when you are forced into an angry final boss battle, the emotional impact of its climax will soon disappear .
A story that is too deep will be a shaky spoiler field, so I promise I won’t do it here, and even list the names of the characters and creatures you fight against (mainly because I don’t know who or what might be taken directly from the movie world Surprise). However, I can say that in order to make up for entering the quarantine area by mistake and being caught carrying contraband, the guards are forced to pay huge fines, even in the collective, those unhappy exiles cannot afford it. This is how our story begins.
The problem is, despite its PG-13 presentation and its wonderfully strange life form-there is no blood, gore, or obvious violence here, when I say that one of the types of enemies you deal with is a jelly cube, I am not kidding. The battle of the galaxy is difficult And the frustrating sponge of its enemy. You can not only fight the enemies, but also shoot them, launch elemental shots, perform special attacks, guide your teammates to attack, and tell them Launch a special attack, or by possessing all The guardians attacked at the same time.
It sounds cool-it’s when it works-but many times, there is too much visual noise and noise It is difficult to track the noise of what is happening on the screen.Add environmental traps, electric mines, staggered meters, mysterious shields and damaged health recovery systems-whether he needs them or not, Quill will happily collect the health drops around him, which means that when you Do Need them, they are gone-I find myself succumbing to bad guys with an embarrassing frequency. Oh, in general, the Guardians also refuse to resurrect each other (with one notable exception, but that once again entered the realm of spoiler), so you often fight the “heal” button prompts like enemies.
However, this is a strictly controlled experience that allows you to quickly browse the story on the track, with zero opportunities to explore the inaccessible roads. In some ways, it’s hard to blame this game-Guardians of the Galaxy is a gorgeous-looking game that has some truly amazing episodes by forcing your perspective; I took 280 screenshots -But it does mean that there is no benefit in turning left when other people turn right. Most of the time you will find a dead end instead of a secret collection.
“There are a lot of things that Eidos is proud of, but when the system and mechanism are oversaturated, it is difficult to find these things.”
There are many others-maybe there are too many others? Fast time events. Ohh Ohh ohh! Slide sequence. Fight in real time. Environmental puzzles. Momentum stripes. The team was removed. Spaceship battle and chase. Watchdog-style hacking sequence. Can be changed. Dialogue choices, but I think they have no effect on the outcome of the game. Unlockable privileges, but I have collected enough resources to unlock all but one resource in my first game. Ability points, but not many, even if you can unlock new abilities for Kamora, the lad, and Quill.
But wait, there is more! An annoying sun visor that covers your surroundings with an annoying pink light to help discover knowledge, resources, or tips for the next step, but I often find it unreliable and cannot properly arrange my downloads step. I am glad that Edios has worked so hard to keep the gameplay fresh, of course, but the downside of doing this is that you are never sure what to do next. If you are stuck and unable to progress, is it because you did not instruct your guardian to do something or do you need to do it yourself?
However, the most intriguing thing is the gathering of guardians, which unceremoniously pulls you from the battle into a first-person perspective, cheering your team up-or calming down. To succeed, you need to listen to their voices—some people are self-righteous; others are afraid of failure—choose from two reactions and get them to refocus. However, this is completely meaningless, because during the speech, the key words will appear in the air behind them, really knocking it home, so all you have to do is match the words with the statement. Other than the opportunity to reset the cooldown of Guardians’ special actions, and allow you to kick your ass to wake me up before you go, or some other delightful 80s tunes, it adds nothing to the game.
Sadly, it also has problems. While playing the PS5 version, I encountered a lot of problems, including a dozen crashes, progress and audio glitches, broken button prompts and HUD instructions-I used to have “Chapter 3-The Price of Freedom” printed on the top of my screen for 20 minutes , And the triangle tip that will not disappear until a soft reset-the boss battle to conquer the dark inhabitants requires six attempts and a night of probation, because the game crashes every time I cut off its third appendage.
Leaving aside loopholes, Eidos has a lot to be proud of, but it is difficult to find these things in the over-saturation of game systems and mechanics and uninspired battles. Although I really like the stunning setting and thoughtful storyline of this game-not to mention the prerequisite post-credits (and post-credits) scenes-unlock all the complements of your friend’s dual training skills and enter the guardian’s end when When you fight in an endless ocean of tanks and bullet sponge centurions, the galaxy feels like an outright trek. And I still don’t understand why games that rely so heavily on cooperative games have no cooperative options at all.
