Call of Duty: Vanguard: About DualSense and Operators

Call, DualSense, Duty, operators, Vanguard

Shortly before the launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard, Sledgehammer and Activision released some information about the upcoming part of the series. Everything revolves around the PS5 controller and new operators.

Four new operators were introduced for Call of Duty: Vanguard. We already know two of them, playable in single and multiplayer, namely Sgt. Arthur Kingsley and Lt. Polina Petrova, but there are also two newcomers that will only be playable in multiplayer. These are Daniel Take Yatsu and Padmavati Balan, who were both presented with trailers.

In a new trailer for Call of Duty: Vanguard, the character Padmavati Balan is introduced.

Much more interesting, however, is that Sledgehammer wants to use the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the PS5 DualSense controller in such a way that the most authentic possible feedback for pulling a trigger should be implemented when shooting. A trigger shot consists of different phases, called take-up, break, over-travel and trigger reset. Break is the point at which the actual shot takes place.

At this point, Sledgehammer uses different levels of feedback to create a different feel for each weapon. A shot with an M1 Garand should feel significantly different than, for example, with a 1911. Something similar should also be implemented with the left trigger for aiming in order to simulate a feeling of the weight of the weapon. Heavy weapons are said to have significantly more resistance than lighter weapons. Weapon attachments should also play a role and be included as an additional factor in how you modify your weapon.

It will be interesting to see how Sledgehammer implements this in the end and whether it really feels accurate.
