Given the chip shortage that the hardware market has experienced for months, the fact that CORSAIR was able to release not one but two variants of its first DDR5 RAM is not surprising, one aimed at the high-end and one other in the midrange. -range, so that users have the choice of providing RAM memory to their new Intel platform. Obviously, and although these RAMs are designed for the new generation Intel Z690 chipsets, they will also be compatible with the next platforms, Intel and AMD, which will be launched with DDR5 compatibility. Let’s see them.

In this new generation of CORSAIR RAM memory, the high-end models could not be absent, the Dominator Platinum RGB, which as you can see in the image above are aesthetically identical to the previous generation DDR4. It is a high performance memory with a PCB customized by the brand to offer a stable and clean signal and with chips Micron DRAM handpicked and tested to provide the highest possible overclocking capabilities.
CORSAIR repeats the same heat sink DHX cooling latest generation, with an aluminum heat sink (available in matt black and glossy white) which guarantees an optimum operating temperature of both the chips and the memory and the voltage controller. And it is that one of the novelties of this new generation is that now the voltage controller is integrated in each individual module, instead of being in the motherboard.
Integrating the tension control on the PCB RAM itself has many advantages; DDR5 uses a lower voltage than DDR4, so it is more energy efficient speaking, and the fact that each module is able to control its voltage individually allows much finer tuning which results in greater stability, especially at high speed and / or when overclocked. At the same time, the efficiency is increased because only the necessary voltage will be used and not a little more, which in turn reduces the temperature of the wasted energy.

Of course, these CORSAIR RAMs incorporate their proprietary lighting system which uses 12 Capellix RGB LED, a lighting that incorporates smaller LED sets that allow much greater customization than normal LEDs and that generate a higher peak brightness, allowing to create a much richer and more impressive lighting ecosystem, with effects that would be impossible to create with conventional RGB lighting.
These reports also incorporate the new profile XMP 3.0 from Intel, which allows up to 5 profiles to be stored in the memory itself: three are preconfigured at the factory, but two of them are editable and, in addition, they can be configured and saved without having to tweak the BIOS since the manufacturer has announced that in a future iCUE update we will be able to modify these profiles from the software directly.
Finally, it should be noted that CORSAIR offers these Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5 RAMs in the following variants (you will realize that there is not much to choose from, and in fact there are two different SKUs but with the same characteristics as we do not know what will be their difference (DRAM chips probably due to their low availability, since potentially CORSAIR will have had to resort to different suppliers)):

Not everyone needs, wants, or can afford a high-end RAM kit like the Dominator Platinum RGB we’ve seen before, which is why CORSAIR also released the family’s first DDR5 memory. Revenge, Simpler RAM and with a rather high average heatsink which in this case lacks any kind of lighting, an option that we consider excellent because after all, not everyone wants their PC to turn on.
Thus, with a very elegant and sober design, these CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 are available with a simple medium-sized aluminum heatsink (and curiously here CORSAIR does not mention the DHX Cooling technology which guarantees the coverage of both the chips and the integrated circuit. ) available in both black and white, because even if they don’t have lighting, you can adapt the aesthetics of your memory to that of the rest of the PC.
For the rest, they have characteristics quite similar, although more limited, to the Dominator Platinum RGB, with the integrated XMP 3.0 profile, the voltage control integrated into the PCB of each individual module, and the possibility of configuring its parameters directly from The software. iCUE, including the two built-in XMP profiles.
In this case, CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 RAM is available in the following memory kits, with a greater variety of speeds and capacities than the previous one but again with only one of the kits in white:
Pricing and availability
CORSAIR has indicated that this new generation of DDR5 RAM is already available from October 27, 2021, but as you may have already noticed by now, they are not listed in the catalogs of major online stores. Also, the manufacturer has not announced their official price and since they still do not appear in the manufacturer’s online store or any other store, this is information that we cannot know (we will update these lines as soon as we see that they already have real availability in the stores).
