Apple fans want some of the old iPhone functionality back!
Over the years, we have seen how much iPhones have improved each time. Apple puts all its efforts to resolve errors and features that are less appreciated in previous versions of their phones, in order to make better devices and thereby attract a larger audience, which equates to more sales.
However, over the years some functions and features have also been left behind. Some of them have been replaced by new ones, which for some users are better and for others worse, while others are completely forgotten, and it looks like we will never see them again on phones. Apple.
The evolution is not always so positive: 4 functions that the iPhone had before and which are now missing
As we mentioned, in order to bet on innovation, Apple has gradually given up some features and functionality of the iPhone. For the same reason, in this article we have tried to collect 4 features that are not available in the new iPhone and that will surely be missed by more than one fan of the firm on your device.
1. Touch ID to unlock iPhone
In 2013, or what is the same 8 years ago, Apple surprised with the presentation of the fingerprint sensor of the iPhone 5s, called Touch ID. By that time, we had seen a plethora of fingerprint readers on devices like computers, but they didn’t have much to do with the iPhone. As well as being more accurate and faster, it also ensured the safety of the device, and it was very convenient due to its location on the start button itself.
Over the years, Touch ID technology has been renewed and updated, and was included in Apple phones until the arrival of the iPhone 8. However, all iPhones that include the new design have Face ID but not Touch ID, something that does not quite convince all users.
And that’s it, While Macs have a Touch ID sensor on the keyboard and iPads have a home or power button, iPhones only offer face unlock. to unlock. Also, it can be a bit annoying because if your face is covered it doesn’t always work properly. For this reason, it seems that, according to rumors regarding the iPhone 14, Apple may be working on its reinstatement, although nothing is entirely clear.
2. Touch 3D below the screen
Going back a little further in time, in 2015 the iPhone 6s was introduced and although it was physically very similar to the iPhone 6, it had some very interesting differences from it. One of them was the Force Touch technology under the screen, dubbed by Apple as 3D Touch..
Thanks to this, the iPhone was able to measure the force or intensity with which the elements on the screen were pressed, allowing you to bring up additional menus with quick actions or previews of items displayed on the screen by exerting more pressure than usual on them.
It was an exclusive feature of these phones, but with the arrival of Apple’s iPhone Xr, they started to remove it from their phones, making the displays a bit cheaper. Gradually, the features that were offered exclusively on models with 3D Touch were implemented by software, so much so that any device with iOS 13 or higher can do the same if an item is held down, whether or not more pressure is applied later.
3. Be able to connect headphones with a jack cable at any time
With the arrival of the iPhone 7 in 2016, there was one aspect that sparked a lot of controversy. He was one of the first phones not to include the port mini plug be able to connect any type of wired headphones. Instead, the EarPods that came with the phone came out of the Lightning port instead of the Jack, along with a small adapter for the headphones.
At the time, there was a lot of controversy given that it was not possible to charge the phone and listen to music with headphones at the same timeEven if with the arrival of AirPods and the rise of wireless headphones, it seems that little by little the habit has been lost. Also, although Apple did start, many Android manufacturers quickly stopped including such a port on their phones, allowing larger capacity batteries or other improvements to be added instead. at the hardware level.
4. The battery percentage on the top of the phone
On iPhone models with the home button layout, it was customary to constantly see the battery percentage at the top of it, inside the status bar. However, when Apple introduced the new design with the iPhone X in 2017, things changed.
Currently, in iPhone models with notch, there is no possibility to display the battery percentage in the upper part, because the shape of the screen does not allow it. Because of this, you won’t even see the option in the phone settings, but to see it you still need to go to the control center or other types of access (Siri, widgets, settings … ), which bothers some users.
One would expect that over time, Apple has slightly changed the design of the iPhone, allowing to include this percentage in the upper part, because it is not envisaged today to modify the software to add the possibility of displaying it.
