Apple had a very busy September, which was followed by an October also rich in new features. During those two months, new iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, MacBooks, and AirPods were released, along with a small HomePod mini update and a new Apple Music voice subscription.
We now wonder if Apple has something else to present. Will you do three events in three months, like you did from September to November in 2020? What else can you announce? Will there be new iMacs and Mac mini? Are the new AirPods Pro ready? And what about the new iPhone SE and iPad Air?
Let’s be honest: Apple has most likely announced everything it has to announce this year and that there won’t be another event in November (or December). It could be a very quiet month without Apple ads.
But the last thing that is lost is hope and in this article we are going to go over which products are already in need of an update and the likelihood of them arriving in November. You will see that this probability is lower than usual, but we are really pessimistic.
Macbook Air
The MacBook Air was one of the first to win the M1 processor last November, but it was recently eclipsed by the 2021 MacBook Pro’s M1 Pro and M1 Max. Could Apple celebrate its birthday with an update?
A new MacBook Air with miniLEDs and a major overhaul (new colors, more ports, and the end of its wedge shape) is reportedly in development. It is unlikely, however, that it will be ready in November and would not arrive until 2022.
Probability: 2/10
iMac
As with the MacBook Pro, the iMac’s case is a bit complicated. The iMacs lineup is not made up of a single model that can be updated once a year, but is divided between a cheaper model for consumers (the April 24 “iMac) and the premium 27 “for professionals.
Currently, the larger iMac is still equipped with Intel chips, so an update is pending. It could happen soon, although leaked information suggests the new large iMac (30 “or even 32”) won’t arrive until March or April 2022 at the earliest.
Probability: 3/10
Mac mini
Surely the biggest hope on this list, we thought we would have a new Mac mini at the Apple event in October. Maybe there was no time and Apple will launch it with a press release in November. More likely, however, that it won’t happen until next year.
At the end of August, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg predicted that the new Mac mini would arrive “in the next few months”, a vague prediction that could refer to both November or December (like the AirPods Max in 2020) and spring 2022 (more realistic).
Instead of replacing the Mac mini with the M1 introduced last year, the next model could be a more powerful alternative. The old model with Intel will disappear at the same time. This mini could have a new design, being thinner and with a methacrylate finish.
Probability: 4.5 / 10
Mac Pro
When the new Mac Pro arrives, it will sure eclipse any other possible Mac version, which might explain why it hasn’t been announced with the new MacBook Pro. But it’s also unlikely to be accompanied by a press release, we didn’t expect the new Pro to arrive this year.
Probability: 1/10
AirPods Pro
Much of the October event was devoted to the new AirPods 3, which would have been a good opportunity to showcase the AirPods Pro if Tim Cook had planned to announce them soon.
However, as with the Mac Pro, the next version of the AirPods Pro would have completely eclipsed Apple’s cheaper and simpler headphone model.
Either way, we don’t think the new AirPods Pro are ready yet. We don’t expect them to arrive until early 2022.
Probability: 2/10
ipad air
The new iPad Air (certainly the next Tablet Apple to upgrade after all other models were in 2021) would be an unexpected arrival in November or December, since the tablets they are usually announced in September.
According to supply chain reports, in fact, it wouldn’t arrive until 2022.
Probability: 3/10
iPhone SE
No no no. The iPhone SE 3 will arrive until spring 2022 at the earliest. Apple won’t hurt sales of iPhones 13 with a cheaper model now that they’re on sale.
Probability: 0.1 / 10
Ipod touch
Last May, there was talk of reports announcing that the new iPod touch was in development. At the time, it was slated to arrive in fall 2021, which could mean its launch would take place in November.
It seems like a forgotten product (the 7th gen arrived in May 2019), but keep in mind that the AirPods 2 are older and were updated in October. It could happen.
Probability: 3.5 / 10
