In the past, Kotaku informed you Themed room in Japanese hotels. As a rule, these rooms are intended for established franchise companies to like Kingdom hearts. But now a Kyoto hotel offers a room plastered in Japanese indie game, Unreal life.

the award winning Unreal life was released on the Nintendo Switch and Steam. Here is the description of the game:

After losing her memories, the girl could only remember one name – “Miss Sakura”.
She went in search of Miss Sakura, aided by a speaking traffic light and the ability to read the memories of the things that touched her.

“Unreal Life” is the story of their journey.
Compare memories of the past with the present, solve puzzles and follow the girl and the traffic light in this atmospheric puzzle adventure game.

Follow the memories, follow the path, and what you will find is …

Hotel Anteroom Kyoto has partnered with Unreal life Developer Hako Life to create two themed rooms. But this isn’t just a collaboration with pictures all over the wall. Oh no, there is more. Hako Life designed Unreal life-themed amenities like a laundry bag and toothbrush, and even a guest-only mini-game.

Guests are shown a close-up view of the game's menu screen.

A video game for guests.

The hotel even cooks the meals found in the game for guests. It’s the sum Unreal life Experience i think.

Bread, eggs, bacon, fish and other foods are placed in bowls on a table.

This looks delicious.

If you know Kyoto, the hotel itself is a short walk from Kujo Station. and has an art gallery and several thematic concept spaces. Seems like a decent hotel.

A look into Unreal Life's other hotel room.

This room looks very blue. But I think it’s the lighting.

Currently, Japan has an entry ban for tourists due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but once this is lifted hopefully international indie game fans can stay in the rooms.

A long shot of the hotel room from Unreal Life shows controllers.

There are even controllers on the table for people to play.

the Unreal life Rooms will be available through January 31, 2022 so hopefully the tourist ban will be lifted sooner rather than later.
