FromSoftware saw a turning point, from making games based on the famous Gundam bots, to creating an entire genre from scratch. Part of its success is due to Hidetaka Miyazaki, a visionary who thought about developing games with questionable difficulty and believing they would work. Well, he wasn’t wrong at all. While it is true that the first of all was Demon’s Souls, the best known around the world is Dark Souls, which has established itself as the basis of a long list of games that absorb many of its concepts and serve as the basis to future games. . of the study itself; creating new stories and new worlds like Bloodborne and later Sekiro.
Maybe the ultimate souls
For next year 2022, Elden Ring will launch, a highlight of Miyazaki’s great gifts, but one that also has the imaginative spirit of George RR Martin, creator of Game of Thrones. George was tasked with creating the whole backdrop of the Midlands, the ancestors and cultures of our protagonists, the events that happened up to the time of our arrival; practically everything. While it is true that Elden Ring told us the story in a much more fluid and clear manner, it was not Martin himself who created the dialogues; but FromSoftware.
Elden Ring takes a giant leap in the Souls saga
The Midlands and their world
Many call it Dark Souls 4, but it’s something uneducated or very pessimistic. Miyazaki puts all the meat on the grill with the highly anticipated Elden Ring, which, yes, takes some characteristics of Dark Souls and adapts them, taking them to a new level; but many others are quite new and unlike it. The kingdom of The Midlands will be a wide and open world, where you can follow the main story or get carried away by your instincts. On the map we can find several world bosses, secret areas, story fragments, dungeons, etc. And this is where we start to notice the main differences. On FromSoftware’s last upload, they showed over 15 minutes of gameplay, where only a slight glance allowed us to observe the vastness of their world with a cycle of day and night. It’s something that we see from different parts of the world and the interface map; which will also help us to orient ourselves in the main mission, it will be very useful for the brands in the agricultural areas and to have them always there. But if that doesn’t seem like a big enough difference to your world, it’s alive. Let’s go where we go we will see creatures and NPCs full of life. Once again, we can see him in his latest trailer.
If you have played Bloodborne you will know that in addition to its “main world” – separated by rooms – it is made up of several dungeons. This will be improved and implemented more naturally only in Sony exclusivity. We can differentiate them into two groups, large and small, both will give us better equipment and high value items. Eye! Always adapt to our level of character. These won’t be limited by level, but there will be some dungeons that require you to have special items or equipment to enter. Also referring to them, if we go back to some statements from Yasuhiro Kitao, one of the producers of the game, finding them will not be a great difficulty.
Players might miss a few small dungeons in The Lands Between, especially during exploration. But don’t worry, we’ve also put together a few ways to help you find these dungeons. You can, for example, find a structure called Watchtower that will give you a clearer view of your surroundings. You can zoom in with this structure, find dungeons which will be automatically marked on your map.
This is all great but what excites me the most is going for rides with my horse, what better than a nice horse ride while they chase after you trying to finish you off? I’ll answer it for you, nothing.
The fight of Bloodborne, Sekiro and something else
It was a mystery until the gameplay was revealed, but we already know for sure that it took several mechanics from the aforementioned Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Dark Souls, to scale up to the required level. We also know that it will have RPG touches, therefore, we will not have fixed equipment and we will be able to change and improve it as we progress. As we saw recently, we will have a great variety of weapons and armor. And really little we know about their fight.
In this section, I’ll be commenting on the new boss designs and their skills. At least, as we’ve seen so far, we have some great designs again. Some, if you are a fan of From. They will look like you, but for the most part they are completely new.
A multiplayer inherited from Dark Souls
The Elden Ring multiplayer is an old acquaintance of the Souls saga. However, as with almost every aspect of the title, we are taking a step forward. We can invoke up to 4 players in the Midlands, but we don’t know if they can help us in dungeons or more closed areas; Since it has been said that Multiplayer and Spirit Summons can only be performed in specific areas. On the other hand, the PVP seems that it will remain without much novelty.
Mention that the classic messages in the field – which on more than one occasion caused our death – will be closed on this occasion, that is to say that we can choose to see everyone’s messages, or those of ‘a specific group. If you are wondering how to configure this, it is very simple. From the configuration, we will create a “clan” or a community and select it by default to only see the messages they publish.
This is the ring of Elden
There’s no denying that Elden Ring isn’t a graphical marvel like Forza Horizon 5, but its gameplay is meant to be exquisite. I have to admit that after seeing his latest gameplay I was expecting more news, but still after seeing his character design, bosses and of course, Middle-earth; left me dazzled. A game is not all graphics, it can be a big factor, I don’t deny it, but in this case it’s not like that. If I have to point out what I love most about what I’ve seen so far, I prefer the open and living world, the mix of genres in its fights and weapons, and the ability to follow our path without having to stick to a closed story.
Elden Ring will be launched the following February 25, 2022 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PS4, PS5, and PC.
