Game news Netflix: Squid Game, Casa de Papel, Lupine … the best video game series
With the recent arrival of video games on the Netflix subscription, of course, the question arises as to which titles will arrive later. Between Squid Game, Bridgerton or Sabrina, there is something to be done to create adventures worthy of the name. Our opinion with content that could be customized.
Hard not to know: A selection of five mobile games has been available on Android with a Netflix subscription since November 3, 2021, at no additional cost – the iOS version will come later. On the program: two Stranger Things titles (Stranger Things 1984, Stranger Things 3 The Game); Shooting Hoops, a crazy sports game that requires you to score baskets; Card explosion, colorful and accessible poker; and Seesaw (above), Address title. Although the latter two were created by internal teams at Netflix, all eyes are obviously on the streaming giant’s successful exclusive content that could bring high quality video games to life. At the moment only the mobile phone is affected, but why not introduce this offer on PC and Smart TV that would make it possible to welcome, for example, Peaky Blinders: Mastermind, cult series, but not exclusively for Netflix. Here is our little list.
Les Cas de The Witcher and League of Legends:
When we think of Netflix and JV, of course, we think of the video game license adjustments that have been successful on the platform. There is The Witcher, Resident Evil, Castlevania or even the “Arcane” series of League of Legends, which will be released soon.. However, that doesn’t mean these universes will eventually be included in Netflix’s video game catalog. In the case of the Witcher, for example, the JV adaptation rights are held by CD Projekt Red. And League of Legends and Resident Evil were developed internally by Riot Games and Capcom, respectively. It will therefore be necessary for Netflix to enter into an agreement with these companies to place their babies in their own game library. And if you know the American giant, that would be entirely possible. Case follows.
SQUID GAME
It’s impossible not to mention Squid Game, the latest Korean hit series to hit the Netflix catalog. The nine episodes of the first season are told the story of hundreds of people with large debts on their shoulders who try their luck in a “deadly” game to hit the jackpot. Deadly, that’s the word, because it’s a real battle royale that awaits the participants at events inspired by theoretical games for children. So, with a concept so close to video gaming, it’s not hard to see how Squid Game could become a full title, with – why not – an online dimension where every one of us would in reality be a real gamer. With the colorful universe of the series.
BRIDGERTON
As a kind of gossip girl in London’s high society, Bridgerton’s first season recently proved to be the biggest hit in Netflix history (82 million viewing intentions in the first 28 days of operation). The story revolves around Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, trying to impersonate a couple in court. The goal: to silence the gossip and have time to choose a candidate who better suits them. It’s easy to imagine a very narrative game – à la Telltale, for example – in which you have to talk to a number of characters without revealing your secrets and making important decisions. A format that would also work well for mobile phones.
PAPER HOUSE
Another staple item on the Netflix catalog, Casa de Papel has also grown to be one of the most popular series on the platform. The speech you know well: A strange man named “The Professor” decides to plan the best heist ever. For this he recruits the best rackets in Europe. With such a concept, we immediately think of the saga payday, the third episode of which is currently in production. The concept is more than simple: work with up to four players to get the best flights. The video game Casa de Papel could therefore openly take inspiration from it, with an improved multiplayer dimension and eight robbers. All with Europe areas as a playing field.
THE CROWN
If you know The Crown, you know it a very ambitious project that will span 60 episodes over six seasons and tell the life of Queen Elizabeth II from her youngest age when she came to the throne. The series concocts a myriad of characters and themes and therefore can be the subject of many video game genres. First and foremost, a very narrative title where we would control the queen over the years and where our decisions could all at once influence the course of events. Or why not a strategy game where you have to manage your empire and your relationships in order to run your boat well, why not with mechanics as advanced as in Crusader King III. It must be said that it makes you want to.
LUPINE
A French actor on top Netflix who deserves a little video game adaptation, right? The series invites us to follow the story of Assane Diop (Omar Sy) who tries to confiscate a jewel in the Louvre Museum, but also has to take care of his son Raoul. It’s not hard to imagine a video game from there. Lupine is an ideal license for creating a nifty action stealth title, in line with licenses like Faction or more recently Styx. In the colors of the Louvre, the player should be careful that the guards do not sound the alarm while he is inviting the various obstacles to the treasure. Lupine could also give a very different result, as did the very nifty Hitman Go on a smartphone.
13 REASONS WHY
On the verge of controversy, 13 Reasons Why would be the perfect candidate for a noir novel-style investigation game. As a reminder, the series tells us the story ofa high school student receiving a box of seven tapes from Hannah Baker overnight. She ended her life a few weeks ago. A reason on every facet that urged her to act, but also the name of a person she considers responsible. 13 reasons a game might change characters, make us listen to those famous tapes and then do some research in a mix between games Sherlock Holmes and its story (title that requires you to search a computer to understand the details of a story). Exciting.
EDUCATIONAL LESSON
With all of these series, we start mixing a lot of different genres. So how about a dating game with an adaptation of Sexual Education? As you probably know The series tells of the encounters between three young characters who wonder about their sexuality and set up a “sexology cabinet” in their high school. The whole thing isn’t very geared towards seducing other people, but why not introduce a flirt game with all the familiar mechanics of the genre? You have to meet people, manage a stress meter from your inexperience, and do everything possible to win someone over. All while managing your classes, your schedule, and your best friends.
SABRINA
Sabrina is both a 90s series and a reboot on Netflix, also titled “The New Adventures of Sabrina”, with a much darker feel than in the past. We follow the story of a teenager born out of a relationship between a wizard and a mortal. On her sixteenth birthday, she must make a crucial decision: join the Church of the Night or continue her mortal life. Either way, the creepy, somber atmosphere of the work could make the perfect backdrop for an action horror game with a strong personality. In addition, Sabrina can use powers that can help her defend herself. Powers that could be improved or simply learned. The perfect marriage.
