Over a year since it was first announced for Marvel’s Avengers, fans finally got their first glimpse of the prankster Spider-Man with a promotional image featuring him alongside his fellow Avengers. Now, Crystal Dynamics has shared a trailer for the upcoming DLC expansion that shows it in action.

The reveal trailer is available exclusively on IGN’s YouTube channel, and while it doesn’t feature any gameplay, it does give fans a glimpse of how Spider-Man will fight when he arrives as a playable character. The pre-rendered trailer sees several inhuman prisoners being captured by AIM (Marvel’s Avengers’ main vile organization) and loaded onto a truck, prompting Spider-Man to go in and take out AIM’s grunts.

At the time of writing, there is no official statement on who the voice actor for Spider-Man is, but it is clearly not Yuri Lowenthal, who voiced the character in the Spider-Man game developed by Insomniac for the PlayStation 4. This should make it very clear that this is not the same Spider-Man, and the two games do not share a continuity. There is also a potential reference to Mortal Kombat, with Spider-Man yelling “Come here” in a tone almost similar to the iconic “Come here!” Scorpion line.

Soon, Spider-Man is outnumbered, however he is quickly joined by the rest of the Avengers, culminating in a shot of all the playable characters in the game together as Spider-Man quotes “Avengers Assemble.” The trailer ends with the release of the inhuman prisoners and the trailer reminds everyone that Spider-Man will arrive on November 30th, albeit as a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 exclusive.

While Xbox, PC, and Stadia players won’t be able to enjoy the new Spider-Man content, he’s not the only thing coming as part of the next big update. Crystal Dynamics has also confirmed a new raid against Klaw, the supervillain introduced during the Black Panther War for Wakanda expansion, as well as various changes and improvements to the game.

At the very least, given the popularity of the character, its inclusion should be beneficial to the game and increase the player base. However, this will only really apply to the PlayStation versions, as none of the other versions of the game will receive their own exclusive characters. Also, so far there are no plans to bring Spider-Man to other platforms.

Over a year since its release, Avengers has been plagued with numerous controversies and has consistently struggled to keep players going. Publisher Square Enix admits that it has been disappointing, although it maintains its commitment to the Games as a Service model.

Marvel’s Avengers está disponible para PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One y Xbox Series X / S.
