This Xbox Series is a success for Microsoft, I think no one doubts it. Not only because of the console itself, which is amazing, but also because it happens supported by the Game Pass and a promising present and future catalog. Both models seem to be selling well, which is reflected in the brand’s latest financial results.
The point is, there is one market that surprises Microsoft itself, and that is Japan. The Japanese seem to have bet more on the series than on Microsoft’s One model. The strengthening of the catalog, Cloud Gaming and Xbox Game Pass are a treat for any self-respecting gamer, and it seems that here too they know how to value that.
Xbox Series falls in love in Japan
Today’s data is particularly good given that American society did not seem to have too many expectations in the Land of the Rising Sun. But maybe he has exceeded all your expectations regarding the distribution of material.
Thanks to GameDataLibrary, we can see that last week the Series line exceeded total Xbox One sales throughout its lifecycle. Although the data is not official, it is not surprising and it will surely be confirmed this week via Famitsu.
This week the Xbox Series overtook the Xbox One in Japan, here’s a chart showing the sales of the two console launches lined up.

Unsurprisingly, we already reported last month that the Xbox Series had sold 100,000 units; an amount for which the Model One took 4 years. Japan is indeed the fastest growing market for Microsoft, and that’s always good news.
However, one also has to be realistic, while the news is positive these numbers are barely scratching the surface in the face of market penetration from Sony or Nintendo, so Redmond should take advantage of the momentum and keep working on it.
