This morning the developers of Genshin impact shared details on the upcoming 2.3 update via livestream, including major seasonal and permanent additions to the game and wintry mini-games. The limited-edition characters Albedo and Eula will be available at the same time, followed by the limited-time return of Itto and Gorou. The update also adds “Shadows Inmitten Snowstorms”, a major story event taking place in the Dragonstaine region. Also coming soon are two powerful new artifact sets that make healers and geo characters more viable in the current meta.
For players who were unable to Albedo and Eula on their first release, miHoYo confirmed that their event banners for 2.3 will run concurrently. That’s part of the new Character banner type
The inclusion of Arataki Itto in the game was teased a month ago, and the Internet began to thirst about his character design. This five star character comes in Genshin impact as a Geo Claymore carrier. Its limited event banner will feature the four-star Gorou, a geo-arch user who featured frequently in the main quest’s Sangonomiyan resistance story. Gorou and the Liyue ship captain Beidou will have Hangout events in the new update (special story quests where players make decisions in stories that have multiple endings).
“Shadows in the middle of snowstorms” is the main seasonal event for this update and takes place in the Drachenstachelgebirge. In addition to a new limited-time story, the event features an exploration mini-game, combat challenges and a snowman decoration feature. Players who complete the event will be able to receive the free four-star sword weapon, the Cinnabar Spindle. The event also features rewards that can be used to build snowmen during the event, and they can be used to add some winter magic to a home in the Serenitea (Genshin‘s Housing System) after the event.
“Bantan Sango Case Files: The Warrior Dog” is a smaller stealth event in the Inazuma region. Players can earn event rewards for rescuing missing animals guarded by an enemy ninja dog. After the event, players can earn the Omni-Ubiquity Net, a gadget that players can use to recreate animals for their homes. With the new update, Paimon can also be added as a companion to the Serenitea realm.

New artifacts are constantly being added to the game. “Ocean-Colored Shell” is an artifact set that gives a healing bonus and a harmful foaming ability. The foam explodes, dealing damage that reduces the character’s amount of healing in a short amount of time, meaning that healers like Kokomi and Qiqi can have significantly improved damage potential. It is one of GenshinThere are many new additions to healing at one workable style of play in the current meta. Another artifact set, Husk of Opulent Dreams, grants geo-damage and defense bonuses, which makes them ideal for both Itto and Gorou as their skills differ from defensive effectiveness. These additions are a nice departure from the current meta, which is dominated by characters with high attack or critical damage modifiers.
Version 2.3 of Genshin impact starts on November 24th
