AirTag, Isnt, nearby

In iOS 15.2, Apple added a new feature to the Search app. We can now actively search for an AirTag or a device that is compatible with the Find Someone Else Network if we suspect they are carrying a stranger. A simple system that allows us make sure that the only AirTags and objects that accompany us are our property.

How to tell if someone is following you using an AirTag that is not yours

Our iPhones would automatically notify us if someone else’s AirTag or Search compatible device was moving with us. This is so for prevent us from being tracked. Before this notice occurs, however, we may do an active search, to make sure that we are not picking up any AirTags or someone else’s device.

We will do this research from the same Search application. The steps to follow are as follows:

  1. We open the Search application on our iPhone.
  2. We enter the tab Objects.
  3. We played on Objects that can locate me.
  4. We touch To look for.
  5. We are waiting for the results.

Although the most common is that we see “No unknown object was found”, if the situation were different the same iPhone would guide us to the object in question and it would show us instructions on how to turn it off or contact its owner.

Like many technologies, the research network can be used for questionable purposes. As we have already said, these devices already have several security measures to prevent abuse. With iOS 15.2, Apple is adding a resource more designed for situations where a person may have a reason to ensure that no other device is taken.
