Apple has just released the third beta of macOS 12.1, a version that should focus on finishing preparations for the arrival of SharePlay on Mac – a change that, while it may seem better requires various settings and tests before it arrived in the final version.
A considerable novelty
The main novelty of macOS Monterey 12.1 is the arrival of SharePlay on Mac. we have already seen at WWDC21 and which, after its official arrival in iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1, is now preparing its arrival to the operating system that brings our computers to life. A function that will allow us to do much more with FaceTime.
Also in this beta version We got to see Universal Control coming. A feature that has also been showcased along with the rest of the macOS Monterrey news and which we are still waiting to see. While it’s only fitting that Apple has continued to tweak other details and improve performance on compatible computers.
If we want to enter the beta cycle, we can do so by following these steps or by creating a system bootable installer, but it should be borne in mind that we are talking about development versions containing bugs.
Already in the beta cycle we will find the update in System Preferences > Software update as an OTA update. During the first few hours, Apple’s servers may receive more demand than usual, so the wait time may be extended.
