Of all the football simulators and games that exist today, undoubtedly the most realistic and the one that has won the battle after many years of existence is the Electronic Arts FIFA saga. In recent years there was no doubt about the work of EA Sports and although some decisions and versions have been criticized by fans, in general terms the work done over the past decade has served to beat PES by a slip of field and to create a very large gaming infrastructure and online community.
One of the great advantages it has FIFA regarding the competition is its huge work in licensing, with hundreds of official marks relating to players, teams and leagues. Possess the official license of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), which has given the game its name since 1993, has undoubtedly helped you a lot in this regard, but could FIFA 22 be the last episode of the Electronic Arts license to bear that name and make use of that license?
FIFA wants more of the cake …
Obviously, using the FIFA license comes at a cost to Electronic Arts and, apparently, FIFA would demand millionaire pay far above current deals from US publisher
In a recent interview with the Financial Times, the director of the brand of the saga, David Jackson admitted that he was not sure he could renew the license with FIFA.
Electronic Arts cannot give in to FIFA demands
However, EA chief doesn’t seem too worried about losing the name, since the license has a commercial success which goes far beyond what is called. It is clear that the series now has a dominant position in the market and FIFA wants a bigger slice of the pie.
However, several voices assure that Electronic Arts cannot give in to FIFA’s claims or be gentle about it, if you don’t want player and club representatives also lobbying for more benefits for their licenses.
