Star Wars: Battlefront: Probably no third part in sight

Battlefront, part, sight, Star, Wars

After a rather bumpy start, thanks to Lootboxen, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was able to convince many fans in the end. But a sequel doesn’t seem to be an option for the time being.

Journalist Tom Henderson shared some insights into another possible part of Star Wars: Battlefront on Twitter. Accordingly, DICE presented another sequel with the publisher Electronic Arts, Battlefront 3, but rejected it for reasons of cost, among other things because the license costs required 20 percent more sales. Several Battlefront developers have since left DICE, including Creative Director Dennis Bränvall, Gameplay Designer Christian Johannesé and Lead Hero Designer Guillaume Mroz.

Instead, DICE is said to be already working on a new battlefield, possibly planned for 2023. At least something: According to Henderson, two more Star Wars titles are in the works in the EA studios, but both are more story-based single-player titles and not a multiplayer game.

While a new Battlefront is very unlikely, the reports about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 seem to be confirmed. This also fits in with the statements by EA CEO Andrew Wilson that EA wanted to continue working on titles in the universe despite the loss of Star Wars exclusivity.
