Game news Resident Evil 4 VR: A huge hit, confirms the return of a cult mode
If there is one game that has stood the test of time and epochs, it is Resident Evil 4: its latest version, dedicated to VR and Oculus Quest, is officially a hit, according to the company’s CEO.
Resident Evil 4 is a cult game that doesn’t have much to prove: A true revival of the terrible action game of its time, Capcom’s masterpiece ages particularly well and, strangely enough, knows how to adapt to different generations. The latest example is obvious Resident Evil 4 VR, a version entirely dedicated to virtual reality through the Oculus Quest, disembarked on October 21st and offers a very successful experience. And obviously Facebook – or rather Meta – is honestly satisfied.
Resident Evil 4 VR, where one of the biggest hits of the Oculus Quest
If Jason Rubin is known as the co-founder and past president of Naughty Dog (no less), he is now at the head of the Oculus section affiliated with the meta group. Not a small contribution when you know the rise of virtual reality, which is increasingly being highlighted by the various players in the industry.
To underscore the public’s interest in technology, the American has just published a little bit of confidence in the success of Resident Evil 4 VR :
We knew Resident Evil 4 would bring a different kind of thrill to VR, both for die-hard fans of the franchise and those new to gaming and VR. I’m happy to report that Resident Evil 4 VR is officially the fastest-selling app in Quest history.
A commercial success that does not reveal any concrete figures, but whose scores seem to wow the creators of Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter (and probably Capcom). The opportunity to also confirm the return of a familiar mode of the saga resident Evil.
Mercenary mode confirmed for Resident Evil 4 VR
It’s always Jason Rubin who drops the information, but yeah Mercenary Mode will return for Resident Evil 4 VR and will be in the form of completely free downloadable content that will be made available later in 2022, without further information. Good news for all thrill seekers who can test their nerves … again.
As a reminder, the mercenary mode is now a great classic of the series: separate from the main campaign, it focuses on scoring and more or less winding arenas in which the player must survive incessant waves of enemies. Resident Evil 4 made it possible to embody five characters in four different locations and to use the scenery of the solo adventure (the village, the castle, the military camp and a new flooded environment). Pure, hard action, fully tuned for adrenaline in a nice dose: So much to say that with a VR headset on, the feeling has to be percussive.
We will of course keep you informed of the arrival of this DLC: until then Don’t hesitate to take a look at our full review at this address.
