The player numbers for Battlefield 2042 are not looking bad – according to EA, twice as many as at the launch of the last Battlefield. However, the mood is clouded due to many bugs, glitches and missing features. What will the upcoming updates bring?
Even if the number of players is very decent, Battlefield 2042 is still pretty much talked about in user reviews and has, for example, ranked among the top 10 worst rated games of all time on Steam. Upcoming patches should change that, after a few first updates you can expect at least two major repairs, one of which, namely Update # 2, is already being installed today. Update # 3 should follow in early December. Another one is slated to come before the Christmas break.
In a comprehensive Blog post the developers have now commented on the content and problem points. So far, DICE has been fairly satisfied with the server performance. A spawn problem is to be fixed with today’s update, sporadic problems with incorrectly registered hits are in the works. A problem on Xbox consoles has already been fixed with a system update. Work is currently being carried out on optimizing the performance on PCs, which is heavily dependent on the CPU load. However, this process will still take some time.
Aiming problems depending on the mouse sensitivity should be fixed in update # 3. At the same time, the developers are continuing to work on optimizing the gunplay. Above all, the problem of excessive dispersion in some weapons is addressed. In today’s update there are improvements in this aspect, in December there will be further optimizations. We are also working on the general balancing of weapons and vehicles.
While today’s Update # 2 is still relatively manageable, Update # 3 will bring a whole range of optimizations with it, including the user interface, matchmaking, progress, rendering, maps and the Battlefield Portal. The Hazard Zone and Breakthrough modes in particular have received many optimizations. The list of planned fixes is VERY long, you can check them out in the DevBlog on the EA side look in detail.
