The release of Spider-Man: No way home is only a few weeks away, and thanks to a frantic pre-sale, the film could become the first $ 100 million opening weekend to see the box office in two years. The new Marvel film has the atmosphere of a grand finale: not only does it conclude a trilogy of films starring Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, but thanks to an under-crowned spell from Doctor Strange, the drama will connect various villains to Pocket of the Spider-Man film universe the last 20 years. No way home It feels like the greatest possible avenue for Holland’s Spider-Man to go out – but producer Amy Pascal says Marvel and Sony aren’t done yet.
“This is not the last movie we’ll do with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man film, ”says Pascal Fandango in a new interview. “We’re preparing to do the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holl and and Marvel, it’s just not part of … we think of these as three films, and now let’s move on to the next three. This is not the last of our MCU films. “
Holland, who has appeared in three stand-alone Spider-Man films along with key roles in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: EndgameHe swung himself into the Marvel Universe at the age of 19 and gave the now 25-year-old plenty of room to move further into the future as an aging Spider-Man. (For comparison, Andrew Garfield was 29 years old when he played Peter Parker in The incredible Spiderman, and Tobey Maguire was 27 when he ran in 2002 Spider Man.) But Holland has been hinting at that in the past few weeks No way home would give finality to his run as a character.
“We treated everyone [No Way Home] as the end of a franchise, shall we say, “said Holland Weekly entertainment in November. “I think if we were lucky enough to dive into these characters again, you’d see a very different version. It wouldn’t be the Homecoming trilogy anymore. We’d give him some time and try to build something else and change the sound of the films. I don’t know if that happens or not. But we were definitely being treated [No Way Home
Sounds like that could happen. But more recently, too, Holland has expressed an interest in passing the torch on. In an interview with GQhe wondered if it was time to “move on” afterwards No way home.
“Maybe what’s best for Spider Man is that they’re doing a Miles Morales movie, ”he said. “I also have to consider Peter Parker because he’s an important part of my life [… But] If I play Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong. “
Whatever resistance Holland brings to the table, or whatever negotiating tactics are going on behind the scenes and playing out vaguely in the press, Pascal seems to have a vision for what to do next, including how that No way home ranks Hollands Spider-Man with Venom, Morbius and other offshoots of the Spider-Verse, which are an integral part of Sony’s development and release strategy. Considering the fact that the Marvel-Sony deal before the No way home
“There’s the Marvel universe, which is a container, and then there are the Spider-Verse films, which are different, and then there’s the other universe where the Sony characters are – we’re just additive”, she said.
In the Fandango interview, Pascal emphasizes how No way home is “about family and love and honor and sacrifice. But it’s always about the choices Spider-Man has to make, ”and how that redefines his destiny as a character. The story-centric perspective is what the producer says will lead them to find a fourth Spider-Man movie starring Holland – and the start of a new trilogy.
“I would say there are so many things we can explore, but what we always have to do before we decide who will be the bad guy and what Spidey will be against is the story we have,” are you telling us about that? You know? What is the story of Peter Parker that we tell? What is the Miles Morales story we’re telling? But we always have to start with that. The good thing about these films is as big as the screen they play on, they are always just stories about a child. “
