Nintendo has recently released current business figures and has also commented on the sales of the Switch. The hybrid platform continues to be successful – and has now caught up with a competitor.

After the Wii-U disappointment, Nintendo should be more than satisfied with the Switch's performance. The current console is still on the road to success and has now reached a new milestone thanks to strong Christmas sales.

As the Japanese confirmed, the Switch has sold 52.48 million copies worldwide since its release in March 2017. This means that the platform has left the legendary SNES behind, but also a current competitor. By breaking the brand after less than three years on the market, the Switch has now also left the Xbox One, which has been available for a significantly longer time. The switch achieved this in less than half the time of the Microsoft console.

The overtaking process should have taken place in the context of last year's Christmas business, because the Switch was particularly well on the way there – also thanks to the cheaper Switch Lite.

The pace that the console delivers also means that sales in comparable periods have been better than the PS2 or PS4 from Sony. In this respect, you are only just behind the extremely successful Wii.
