Last summer, the new Google Assistant driving mode started reaching out to users to take over from the mobile version of Android Auto, and all the while Google has improved the way to launch this new driving mode.
The latest update provides a more comfortable way to start driving mode from start screen from our device, which allows us to open it manually without depending on the car’s bluetooth connection.
Direct access to the Google Assistant driving mode
Since last October, we can configure the Google Assistant to launch driving mode when our mobile is paired with the car’s bluetooth, but if your car doesn’t have bluetooth or your mobile isn’t paired, it won’t. it was not practical to open the Driving View. manually, since it was necessary to open the application Android Auto then tap the option to open the assistant’s driving mode.
The next time you switch to the Driving View and press your app drawer you will see your new suggestion direct access. Clicking on “Add a driving mode to start” allows us to add your shortcut to the home screen. So the next time opening the driving mode will be so easy and fast as opening any app.
With this novelty, the Google Assistant would offer three ways to launch the driving mode, at least in theory, because for the moment in Spanish the command “Hey Google, let’s drive” that we see on the support page does not work still in Spanish. Therefore, if you have configured the mobile phone in Spanish, you can only start the driving mode with the car’s Bluetooth or with its direct access to the home screen from the assistant itself.
