It’s not news that Battlefield 2042 has to struggle with all kinds of technical, but also some playful deficiencies. This bumpy launch may not have done any good to the brand’s reputation as a whole. That’s why the big chair back is now starting with the developer DICE – and of all things Call of Duty and Halo veterans take the wheel.
After all, there are already the first playful improvements: The big patch 3 has already taken on some of the construction sites of Battlefield 2042. You can read all changes to the update here:

These are the new Battlefield bosses
Who is in charge? Nobody less than Vince Zampella has been appointed by EA to lead the entire Battlefield franchise. The founder of Respawn launched Titanfall and Apex Legends, among others, and once produced what was arguably the worst battlefield competitor Call of Duty with his studio Infinity Ward at the time.
Another new addition is the former Bungie veteran and Master Chief creator Marcus Lehto, who was appointed head of a new EA studio in Seattle, which will take care of the cross-game story and the world building of the entire Battlefield series in the future.
As is well known, all good things come in threes: Ripple Effect, the studio behind Battlefield Portal, is also supposed to work on new content for Battlefield 2042.
Who is leaving DICE? The previous General Manager Oskar Gabrielson takes his hat and says goodbye via Twitter confirmed. There he writes that this was one of the toughest decisions of my life
. In another tweet he emphasizes that at DICE some of the industry’s greatest talents work
and the team is in great hands.

What is the future of Battlefield?
Farewells and newcomers all well and good, but what the fans should be interested in now: What’s next for Battlefield?
Anyone who fears that the debacle surrounding Battlefield 2042 has become the coffin nail for the series can breathe a sigh of relief. The statements about these personnel changes don’t sound like we’re dropping Battlefield – on the contrary!
Like the magazine Gamespot reported, EA is supposed to be a connected Battlefield Universe plan, so to speak BFCU
(Battlefield Connected Universe). Marcus Lehto’s new studio is primarily responsible for the overall plot. When asked by Gamespot, the new Battlefield boss Vince Zampella also emphasized that these new plans should not be misinterpreted as dropping Battlefield 2042. Rather, it is about expanding the brand as a whole.
So fans can hope for improvement, because the BF2042 is still not in good condition, as our detailed video about bugs, problems and other defects shows:

Battlefield 2042 – release conclusion: unfinished and out with it!
Vince Zampella also commented on the new vision of the future for Battlefield and the role that 2042 should play in it:
In many ways, this is an “and” strategy. We will continue to develop and expand Battlefield 2042 while trying out new experiences and business models that we can add to this foundation in order to offer our players an ingenious range of experiences.
In this [Battlefield-]Universe, the world is linked by characters and stories. This universe is also created with the help of our community, because we use the power of the portal and user-generated content that put creativity in the hands of our players.
EA COO Laura Miele emphasizes these ambitious future plans when she announces that the publisher is involved in the franchise all-in
go and Battlefield 2042 is the cornerstone for the future.
You will probably have to be patient before these numerous changes take effect. In the short term, Battlefield 2042 players will have to hope for more patches, but in the long term you can obviously look forward to a lot more Battlefield content.
How is your reaction to the announced personnel changes and the targeted Battlefield universe? Exactly the right thing, or would you have preferred full focus on Battlefield 2042? Let us know in the comments!
