The mode works almost exactly like in the classic Battlefield 3 and 4: Two teams compete against each other on 2042 maps, one defends and one attacks. After the successful installation, a time limit runs and the defenders can still defuse the explosive device. If this does not succeed in time, the MCOM will be blown up. If both targets fall, the attackers advance to the next sector.
In Battlefield 2042, Rush is played in the related mode Breakthrough with only 32 players instead of the usual 128 players. So a very compact squad size and noticeably less chaos on maps that were specially scaled down for this format. This also ensures better performance.
Time will tell whether DICE and Ripple Effect will answer your wishes and actually bring a permanent playlist or, in the future, even their own rush mode for the main game.
