In case you didn’t know, the Nintendo Switch is an extremely popular console. The machine’s immense success is all the more impressive as it doesn’t seem to wane over time. And while it could be imagined that delivery issues would affect Switch sales towards the end of the year, it appears that the console and its games are still doing very well.
the Nintendo Switch and its games have just broken several sales records in Europe in the UK. And that’s not a question of estimates. The information was actually sent directly from Nintendo. The Kyoto company says it sold more consoles and games in these areas in the week of November 23rd than any other week since the console was released.
Nintendo claims that these statistics are linked to internal Nintendo sales data. In addition, they affect the sale of both physical and dematerialized games. On the hardware side, November has always been a success for the Switch. After all, the weeks leading up to Christmas are a good time to shop for consoles.
The Switch will die, but not immediately
This year, however, the console was given a very special pack. As mentioned earlier, Nintendo has actually marketed a package that includes a console, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and a three-month subscription to Nintendo Switch Online. To finish with the hardware, the the sales record that the Nintendo Switch just broke was previously set in November 2019
On the Switch games sales side, things are impressive too. So impressive that they broke their record twice in a row last November. A new sales record was first set in Europe in the week of November 15th. Record that was immediately broken the following week.
Switch game sales competing with itself
When console sales are doing well and not just the work of speculators, it makes sense for games to follow suit. That year, however, Nintendo was helped by the release of Pokémon Sparkling Diamond / Sparkling Pearl. The game was actually released on November 19th and exceeded 6 million copies sold worldwide in one weekend.
Year after year, it is fair to wonder when Switch sales will eventually run out of steam. Given the results achieved by the Nintendo console and its games again this year, it seems pointless to speculate about it. Especially since the Japanese manufacturer still has big games to publish on the switch.
