The announcement of ARC Raiders at the Game Awards was already hinted at in advance. Now we know a little more about the new sci-fi shooter from previous Battlefield developers.
Embark Studios was founded by a former Chief Designer Patrick Soderlund of Electronic Arts and consists of employees who worked on the successful Battlefield series, among other things. With ARC Raiders they have now officially announced their debut project.
The title is a third-person shooter with a sci-fi setting that will be based on a free-to-play model. You have to fight an alien invasion in a PvE mode.
The debut trailer below showed various fighters of the human resistance who are dealing with increasingly powerful invaders – from drone-like scouts to giant spider-shaped attackers with four legs. The video suggests a gameplay in the style of well-known Horde modes.
The release is planned for 2022 on PC (Epic Games Store, Steam), GeForce NOW, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S. After the release, the focus will also be on cooperative game elements.
