Stressful Christmas season: In view of the many new games, one or the other remarkable specimen slips through. For example, did you notice the release of the tactical military shooter Thunder Tier One on December 7th? Fans of the old SWAT and Ghost Recon games, single players, co-op friends and PvP lovers could be equally happy here.
This is evident from the first players on Steam: PUBG developer Krafton currently has 86 percent positive ratings from around 1,500 reviewers with Thunder Tier One. We list what excites the players and what the criticism consists of.

A special hardcore shooter
Much love from the players
On Steam, it’s not just the bare numbers that speak for Thunder Tier One. Many players get downright emotional in their reviews! They praise Thunder Tier One for a kind of gameplay that has become rare these days.
Again and again, the comparison to the tactical shooter series Ghost Recon reads, for example with Steam users Mushu-Wu, who combines his praise with a tip towards Ubisoft:
We finally got a Ghost Recon game and all we needed was Ubisoft not to do it.
Ubisoft developed Ghost Recon into an open world shooter with Wildlands and Breakpoint, which by no means all old fans liked. Lovers of the formerly rather gloomy, realistic approach now see a continuation of these strengths in Thunder Tier One.
But also comparisons with Commandos and Jagged Alliance, also tactical games loved by fans, appear several times on Steam. Twitch streamer never_ever33 writes:
For me, this game is a very clear buy recommendation! If you loved Commandos, you can’t get past it, and that’s just for a slim 20s. Thunder Tier One convinced me in everything!
The comparisons are understandable due to the top-down perspective, the realistic approach and the dirty-dark style that characterizes Thunder Tier One. The gameplay also resembles a commandos, for example through aiming with the aiming mouse cursor or the extremely short, deadly firefights.
What players criticize
In addition to the praise, Thunder Tier One also received some negative comments from Steam players. Again and again, users notice the AI behavior negatively. As a single player, you are allowed to lead a group of computer-controlled colleagues into the field who, however, do not always seem to act cleverly.
player UrbanShadow speaks of soldiers who stay too close together and shoot each other over when they come into contact with the enemy. Player commands are also said to be so difficult to use that in the heat of the moment they lead to death rather than success. In addition, the player finds the campaign too short:
Not enough single player missions and side missions or challenges. So you could finish the campaign in a couple of hours and then think, “oh, I’m going to look at the other features …” Then you play each mission with different weather gear and so on. This feels like a hasty option to me.
As described at the beginning, the negative reviewers remain in the minority. Thunder Tier One receives a lot of goodwill from most players.
