As time goes by and by and by, the great sagas of video games are bottled. In a few days, Final Fantasy will celebrate the 34th anniversary of the first episode’s release and launch the invitations.
The advanced among you haven’t forgotten: On December 17th, 1987, Final Fantasy first was released on Famicom and helped lay the groundwork for a series that wrote some of the most beautiful parts of the J-RPG. And because we’re not 34 years old every day, Square Enix is proud to announce the launch of a live event, largely dedicated to Stranger of Paradise, the “origin story” of Final Fantasy.
Birthday tea
Linking the action RPG revealed in the chaos of E3 2021 and the original Opus therefore made sense for Square Enix, which has announced a live anniversary with us French players this Saturday, December 18 at 11 a.m. During this presentation we will discover new phases in the gameplay and undoubtedly learn a little more about this still very enigmatic title that for the time being keeps all of its secrets, as co-producer Tetsuya Nomura fondly recalled:
This new story uses the first Final Fantasy as a motif rather than being directly related to it. Anyone who is familiar with the game world should be able to pick up on some hints in the design of Jack and his companions. Their clothes are nothing more than an indication of their origin. The names of the protagonists make sense, but that would spoil the story. Jack, Ash, and Jed all have a common meaning.
Which class (es)
But while we wait to find out what Square Enix has in store for us, Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin is now specifying its class system. Even if it means staying a little ahead of the series’ chronology (the classes will only appear with Final Fantasy III), the Warriors of Light can switch between Gladiator, Mage and Pugilist:
The classes are divided into two types: base classes; like the gladiator and the magician; and the higher classes that you unlock by leveling up in different base classes. If you move up in the upper grades, there might be even more advanced grades waiting for you, who knows?
New skills and classes are available in the class tree. Defeating enemies and leveling up will give you class points that you can use to learn new skills and unlock new classes.
While we wait for this weekend to air The Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin Prequel will be released on March 18, 2022 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC.
