News culture Netflix: The Elven Universe of Blood Origin, the spin-off of The Witcher, is revealed in a first trailer!
After the success of Game of Thrones, fantasy has increasingly found its way onto SVOD platforms. Two years ago, Netflix drew a serial adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s literary saga, The Witcher, and in the face of the madness, the American giant quickly addressed the issue of spin-offs, including that of them, namely Blood Origin, became visible to all today revealed.
It took two years to discover the rest of the adventures of Geralt de Riv, Yennefer de Vengerberg, Löwenzahn or even Princess Cirilla de Cintra! However, Netflix today released an initial trailer that anyone can watch this time around.
Once upon a time, in a very distant time …
We have been hearing about this famous spin-off for some time, which has been filmed since last November. In case we don’t know the exact release date for now, Netflix will remind us at the end of the video that it is actually scheduled to air in 2022! So far, we have only received a little information about the casting or the inspirations of this spin-off, but finally the universe opens up to us, while a brief look at the protagonists is gratifying.
We certainly didn’t notice familiar faces, and for good reason: the action takes place 1200 years before the wanderings of Geralt and Cirilla and will tell us, among other things, the advent of the very first sorcerer and the events that made the world of The Witcher what it is: it becomes a matter of in particular the struggle between humans and elves on the continent and the conjunction of the spheres, or the magical collision of worlds that resulted in an onslaught of monsters.
An amazing contrast
Surprisingly, the overall mood quickly differs from the drab and dark vibes of the original series.. Just as this trailer doesn’t really give the impression of making the connection with the universe of Andrzej Sapkowski, even if one quickly deduces that the presented trio of elves will be at the center of the intrigue, but that’s what the excerpt has to offer for the time being.
If the trailer gives pride of place to a mystical atmosphere and a little more sun than The Witcher, The story should have a rather dark red thread because of its themes and focus on conflicts that lead to a single outcome: physical confrontation. The actress Michelle Yeoh will shortly be giving us a foretaste of the staging of the fights that promise to be as action-packed as the main series!
