At the end of the year, the Embracer Group announced the takeover of additional companies. Including Dark Horse and the MMO developer Perfect World.
The Embracer Group will continue to grow before the end of the year. As announced today, four more companies were acquired.
The subsidiary Gearbox Entertainment was therefore taken over for 125 million US dollars Perfect world entertainment.
Perfect World is known for its MMOs like Neverwinter and Star Trek Online. The acquisition also includes Cryptic Studio and the Perfect World publishing label.
Two companies were taken over through the subsidiary Saber Interactive.
For an unspecified sum, the 20-person development studio was taken over Shiver entertainment
The company specializing in animation and motion capturing DIGIC images was also taken over with its 400 employees. The Embracer Group has already worked with DIGIC on various cinematic trailers. The amount for the takeover was not mentioned.
But that’s not all: The Embracer Group today also announced the takeover of Dark horse and with it a growing library of over 300 IPs from the areas of content development, comic book publication as well as film and TV production.
The company includes Dark Horse Comics, Dark Horse Entertainment and Things From Another World with the following focuses:
- Dark Horse Comics:
- Dark Horse entertainment: A production company founded in 1989 that has produced over 40 films and series, including the box office hits The Mask and Timecop, the Hellboy films, and the critically acclaimed series The Umbrella Academy and Resident Alien.
- Things from another world: A unique retail concept with a wide range of comics, graphic novels, toys, statues and other collectibles from the field of pop culture and a philosophy that focuses on excellent customer service. Founded in 1980 and comprised of three retail stores and a rapidly growing e-commerce presence.
A price for the takeover of Dark Horse was not made public.
