In its effort to make MacBook laptops models as close as possible, Apple developed a new type of switch for this range of computers. A new replacement, nicknamed "butterfly" can replace the traditional "mkiss" that was previously used by the product up to that point. Not only the product type, the circus switch is the most widely used laptop manufacturers for their keyboards.
As can be seen in the previous image, the butterfly switch actually lifts the bottom of the scissors. This, for Apple, was great news, as they could now produce smaller laptops for the MacBook than before. It is also a type of switch that allows maximum comfort when typing long into the user.
However, the new Apple Keyboard button is not designed properly. Since you don't have to spend a lot of time for users to start complaining about failure when using these keyboards. Errors that the product type was quickly returned to the users themselves, claiming they weren't using it properly. Where the truth is, Apple had missed something important.
Beginning in 2018, Apple is replacing the MacBook keyboard for free
What the giant Coppertino didn't count was the dust. Because the butterfly switch is so tight, the dust input eventually causes it to stop working properly. Also, it doesn't matter how you want to protect against the dust, if you leave a small piercing, it will find its way into it. The problem is, since the buttons are tight on the keyboard chassis, removing these keys to access the switch is … complicated, we can say.
If at least users can remove the buttons, with the pressure of compressed air, the dust can be removed. Not so for the keyboards that Apple made for their MacBook laptops. In them, the buttons are often fragile. In particular, a space key. It is so fragile that in any attempt to remove it from the computer, in almost all cases it usually ends with a damaged key and / or switch.
Finally, in 2018, Apple finally realized the problem its keyboards had. And even in other models, he used the custom button button as well. But, most importantly, it introduced the program so that owners of certain MacBook models could change the keyboard of their laptop without paying for it.
The models that can be included in the program are:
- Retina Model 12-inch, from 2015, 2016 and 2017.
- Pro model 13 inches from 2016 to 2017.
- Pro model 15 centimeters from 2016 to 2017.
