There are a wide variety of formats for images and each format is suitable for different types of tasks or tasks. To be able to change the format of the images we work with quickly and comfortably is important and if we can also convert multiple images at the same time even better. This is exactly what the Preview application offers us on our Mac.
Simple, easy and fast batch conversion
We probably know that the Preview app allows you to change the format of the images on our Mac, what we do not know is that we can use it to convert hundreds of images in one go
Batch converting images using Preview is very straightforward, although there are a few details that are important to know in order for the process to be performed correctly. The steps to follow are as follows:
- We open the app Searcher and we locate the images we want to convert.
- We select all the images we want to share. We can use Command (⌘) + A to select them all or hold down the Command (⌘) key while we click on the different items.
- We double-click on one of the selected images to open them all. Alternatively, we can drag them onto the Preview app icon.
- We click on one of the images that appear in the left sidebar.
- We press Command (⌘) + A to select all the images we have opened.
- On the menu Files we touch Export selected images.
- We choose the location in which to save the converted images.
- We hit the button Options.
- We select the format and, if we wish, we adjust the quality, alpha value and other variables that will appear depending on the chosen format. If the format you want does not appear, hold down the Option (⌥) key while displaying the selector to reveal more.
- We touch To select.
It’s easy. A the progress indicator will show us the remaining time to complete the entire export. Once done, something that will depend on the format chosen and the number of elements, we will find all the images in the new format in the location we just chose.
As we can see, the process is really simple. The application also it’s very fast in conversion, so we can convert hundreds of images very quickly. With this we will have the ready-made files in the most suitable format for each of the tasks.
It is true that there are other applications which offer us the possibility of converting images in batch. Some of them offer more options regarding the conversion, but the vast majority are much more complex than Preview and many of them are paid. The preview may offer moderate options, that’s true, but it’s an app we’ll always have on our Mac, ready for a quick conversion to the most common formats.
