Most recently, Ubisoft announced an entry into the NFT video game business with Quartz – and received a real shit storm. Nevertheless, these plans are still being held for the moment.
The announcement by Ubisoft Quartz has not really met with approval from gamers, because they do not at all believe that crypto has lost anything in video games. As a result, there was a real shit storm and so many negative comments and ratings on the announcement video on YouTube that Ubisoft no longer marked it as a public clip.
In an interview with Decrypt Ubisoft’s Blockchain Director Didier Genevois has now commented on the topic and confirmed that Ubisoft will initially continue to adhere to its own NFT plans despite all previous resistance. In the end, Ubisoft Quartz is initially an experiment to find out how the model is actually perceived by the players in the end. “We know it’s a really big change that will take time, but we will stick to our three principles,” said Genevois.
The three principles regarding the NFT model are responsible use of technology in a safe environment, the exclusive use of energy-efficient blockchains and the provision of meaningful value for the players, from which they will also benefit in the actual gaming experience.
Quartz is set to become an NFT platform for AAA games that will be piloted in Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Exclusive and limited items are made available in crypto form.
