If there is one topic in the video game world lately it is NFT. That ability to buy a digital asset and thereby become the sole owner, which can fluctuate over timelike a work of art. A new form of income whose defender Ubisoft has made. The players are dissatisfied and perceive this new monetization negatively for fear of abuse, as is already the case with additional paid content. Ubisoft developers themselves oppose it, but it will obviously take more to change the French publisher’s goal …
In a recent interview with the website Decrypt, Didier Genevois, Technical Director for Blockchain at Ubisoft, was able to speak on the subject:
We have received a lot of feedback since the announcement and we hear the encouragement, but also the fears. We understand where questions about this technology are coming from and we need to consider them. This experience should help us understand the impact NFT is having on our players … We know this is a change that will take time, but we want to stay true to our principles.
By principles, Genevois means:
- Use technology responsibly.
- Create a safe environment.
- You can only rely on energy-efficient blockchains with proof of participation.
Ubisoft has developed its cryptocurrency platform called Ubisoft Quartz. So NFTs use the same concept of dematerialized monetization. The developers at are feeling the backlash Stalker 2
