Developer Remedy has signed a global agreement for Project Vanguard with Tencent.
Today it was announced that Remedy has signed a global development, license and distribution agreement with Tencent for the cooperative multiplayer game Project Vanguard
The project, codenamed Vanguard, is Remedy’s own IP. It’s a free, cooperative PvE shooter that combines Remedy’s narrative expertise and action gameplay into an immersive multiplayer experience.
Known for Alan Wake and Quantum Break, the developer will use the Unreal Engine to develop the game for PC and console platforms.
Remedy will develop and publish the game worldwide, with the exception of select Asian markets, where Tencent will localize and publish the game.
The development of Vanguard is currently in the so-called proof-of-concept phase. The development budget will be on the order of a typical Remedy AAA game budget through the end of the first year of live operations.
The development is co-funded by Remedy and Tencent. In addition, Tencent will localize the game for the selected Asian markets and assume the associated localization costs.
Remedy and Tencent will be responsible for their own publishing and gaming operating costs in their respective territories, while sharing a portion of the revenue with the other party after the development costs are covered.
As part of the agreement, Remedy has also given Tencent the worldwide rights to develop and publish a mobile version of the game.
Tencent will pay for the development and release of the mobile version. The parties have agreed on a separate system for dividing the income from the mobile version.
