The year 2021 is drawing to a close and the PS5 has just blown its first candle, it’s time to look to the future to see what the next few months hold for video games. Some say we won’t see what the new generation really has in store until 2022. Here’s what we can expect for the PS5.
HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST
It’s impossible to start this article without mentioning one of Sony’s largest cartridges for the next year. Horizon Forbidden West, the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, will be released on February 18, 2022 on PS4 and PS5. This is how the players find Aloy, the heroine of the first part, who has to face a strange red plant that threatens her world and its inhabitants, but also the madness of the men who have learned to control the machines. Coupled with improved graphics that take advantage of the new PlayStation, the second chapter of Guerrilla Games’ success promises a renewed and expanded exploration that is less subdivided than in 2017. GOD OF WAR RAGNAROK
Another must-have in the PlayStation catalog for next year, the formidable God of War Ragnarok, is slowly but surely preparing for its arrival on PS4 and PS5. Yet, Santa Monica Studio’s Triple-A has no specific release date except for “2022”. What we do know, however, is that the title allows us to discover the rest of the adventures of Kratos and his son Atreus three years after the events of the first episode. As the Ragnarok prepares, the duo go on an adventure to find answers and survive. At the moment we can enjoy more dazzling graphics in the gameplay trailer than the 2018 God of War offered us, with environments where life is more present than in the past. Some new attacks and new characters will also be part of the game.
UNCHARTED: LEGACY OF THIEVES COLLECTION
Another iconic Sony hero is returning, but not necessarily as expected. Early 2022, Players can rediscover Uncharted 4 and Uncharted Lost Legacy in remastered versions for PS5 and PC, with Legacy of Thieves Collection. We don’t know the details of this new version yet, but it should benefit from the usual improvements to this type of port, namely 4K and 60 frames per second, with slightly revised graphics. As a reminder: Uncharted 4 marks the end of the adventure of the great Nathan Drake, who was then freed from his everyday life to go on one last treasure hunt. Uncharted Lost Legacy, for its part, offers a new story with the duo Chloé (Uncharted 2 and 3) and Nadine, antagonist of the last chapter of the series.

GREAT TOURISM 7
Expected with every new PlayStation console launch, especially by fans of racing games, Gran Turismo is set to return very soon with a seventh episode on PS4 and PS5 still developed by Polyphony Digital. Released March 4, 2022. A work that is synonymous with going back to basics. In the latest gameplay video, fans didn’t miss the return of the Simulation GT mode and the series’ traditional campaign. “With Gran Turismo 7, we’re taking things that were put forward in Gran Turismo Sport like the championships, while returning to a traditional grand experience like Gran Turismo 1 and 4 to make the best Gran Turismo possible.” Kazunori Yamauchi, director of Polyphony Digital, recently stated. The title will contain 90 tracks and use ray tracing.

FORGET
Forspoken was unveiled at the base under the name Project Athia during the PS5 showcase in June 2020 and will continue to be in the conversation and arrive Next year exclusively for consoles on PS5 and PC. A benefit that ends two years after the title was released on May 24, 2022. It is an open world action RPG developed by Luminous Productions and published by Square Enix. Players will follow the adventures of Frey, a young woman who travels from New York City to the fantasy world of Ahtia without warning. LITTLE DEVIL INSIDE
After a long time, the State of Play in October 2021 again talked about the curious Little Devil Inside. This colorful adventure game seems like an experience in itself. In the most recently released gameplay video, we can see a hero taking the train to destroy an Kraken … in the basement of a house. One thing is for sure, Little Devil Inside will focus on original, unexpected discoveries and different stages of the game. The most important thing is not the goal, but the encounters that we have made in the meantime, they say. In the video we can see that there will be moments on a world map in which the heroes are depicted in tiny moments, as well as moments at close range with sword fights. Eventually there will be elements of survival as well. The game will initially be released for PC, PS4 and PS5.
STRAY
Stray, also known as “the cute little cat game”, is one of the titles launched in June 2020 to promote the PlayStation 5 catalog, and this July we saw more with a very first gameplay sequence. So you control a cat that has to evolve in a world populated by robots. At the moment we don’t know much more than that the animal has to find its family. In the gameplay video we can appreciate the care that has been given to the atmosphere of the city, its residents and the feline animations. “Exploration is a key element and because we like to add a lot of details to our surroundings” to explain the developers on the PlayStation blog, “We hope that the players will have fun looking for all the little hidden insights”. It has to be said we can’t wait to play it.
GHOSTWIRE TOKYO
Here’s another very mysterious project: Ghostwire Tokyo has shown itself on numerous occasions since it was unveiled at E3 2019, but it is taking a long time to come out. It must be said that Microsoft has since bought Bethesda and Tango Gameworks (The Evil Within), the developers of the game. In any case, the title is always exclusive to the PS5 console., also released on PC (and other media one year after its release). The adventure seems pretty original. The player takes on the role of Akito, whose powers begin to manifest when Tokyo is overrun by ghosts and ghosts. But the man will be able to count on other allies to defend the city. Everything takes place in the first person and relies on “Naruto-style” hand movements to cast the spells. There is no more time to wait. Publication: spring 2022.

SIFU
We’re closing with a game that doesn’t look good, but will still delight action and fight fans: SIFU. Developed by Sloclap, which has already delivered the very beautiful Absolver, the title is presented a kung fu game that is both complete and alive, and has a beautiful artistic direction. The player plays a martial arts student whose family is murdered overnight. There are five people in charge of this, and he plans to finish each of them. We haven’t had the chance to try our hand at the title yet, but the combos seem to be really fluid, in a battle frenzy comparable to what Absolver has given us. SIFU seems to be the pinnacle of the Sloclap team’s style. With rather minor originality: every time the player dies, he becomes older, but also more powerful.
